United States of Inmates: A Series of Events on the U.S. Prison Industrial Complex
This is a week of action and education regarding the Prison Industrial Complex and its relationship with the drug war and society at large. These events have been put together with the help of Students Organizing Against Prisons (SOAP), the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), and the Michigan Political Union (MPU). Join us for the following events between March 19 - 22.
March 19 - Kalamazoo Room, Michigan League
Debate: Ban the Box! Should employers be allowed to ask about past criminal activity on initial job applications? Join us for a debate on this topic from 7-8:30 p.m.
March 20 - Rackham Conference Room East
Film: Red Hook. This film introduces a community justice approach to crime in Red Hook, MA which emphasizes rehabilitation over punishment. The film will be introduced by a speaker from Law Enforcement Against Prohibition (LEAP). Join us from 7-9 p.m.

March 22 - Betty Ford Room (1110), Ford School
Panel on the Prison Industrial Complex. Panelists include UM professors Sherie Randolph and Megan Sweeney and ACLU Racial Justice Attorney Mark Fancher. Join us at 7 p.m. for an exciting discussion of this issue.
